IATP provides services to help ensure assistive technology in good working condition can be reused and benefit an individual in need. We provide a Reuse program of new and gently used equipment at no cost.
Types of Equipment Available Include:
- Mobility, seating, and positioning (i.e. wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, etc.)
- Daily living devices including personal care
- Communication Devices
- Computer and related hardware and software
- Home Adaptations
- Vehicle modifications and accessories
- Recreation, sports, and leisure
IATP’s Reuse Program provides assistive technology and durable medical equipment to people of all ages with disabilities who can’t afford to purchase new. The recipient may keep the equipment for as long as needed. When it is no longer being used, we ask that it be returned so that others in need may also benefit from the program. Our inventory changes very quickly and therefore we do not maintain an on-line listing. Please contact us directly for assistance with your Reuse needs.
The need for equipment far exceeds the available inventory. New items are added to the Reuse program inventory through private individual cash donations and through financial support from other agencies and organizations. To learn more about the ongoing unmet need and/or to make a cash donation, please contact us.
Please consider donating gently used equipment that is no longer beneficial to the user. Equipment donations are assessed for safety, function, cleaned, sanitized, and redistributed to Illinoisans in need who cannot afford to purchase new equipment. Call in advance to ensure that a staff member is available. Our COVID-19 protocols include arranging for a no-contact exchange. Prior to dropping off equipment, we ask that you clean and disinfect it to the best of your ability. Donation letters will be provided to donors upon request.
